How to create a opening balance journal voucher?
An opening balance journal voucher is used to record the initial balances of accounts when setting up a new accounting period or starting a new financial year. The opening balance represents the starting point of a society's bank account, summarizing the balances carried over from the previous period. Properly maintaining opening balances helps prevent errors in financial reporting and provides a clear starting point for future accounting entries and reports.
Please follow the below steps to create an opening balance journal voucher:
1. Go to Accounts, then select Voucher. Click on the " create Journal voucher option.
2. Select the opening balance voucher and click on create vouchers.
3. Select the date, description, debit entry, and credit entry with the amount, then click on save.
Note: The debit ledger should be the opening balance, while the credit ledger should be the bank. The amounts in both the debit and credit ledgers should be the same.
